doctor faustus 2

One part that really interested me in our reading was the fact that there was a He-devil and a She-devil. I think of there only being one Devil, just like there is only one God. We don't know if they are male or female, but they are both portrayed as being men. The He-devil has horns, while the She-devil has clifts and cloven feet. This is weird considering they are both devils, so why wouldn't they look the same? I could understand why he would put more than one devil in the play, but not a female one. It just rubs me wrong becuase I was brought up thinking the devil was male.
